Barn Dance- May 10 2025

Community is the heartbeat of rural Tennessee. It’s more than just a place to live—it’s a way of life. Neighbors knowing neighbors, sharing a meal, lending a hand without being asked. It’s the kind of life where a slow evening on the porch with a glass of sweet tea isn’t just a pastime, but a tradition.

People are moving here for that very reason. They want what we’ve always known—a simpler, more connected way of living. A place where kids run barefoot in the grass, where you wave at every passing car, and where you can count on someone showing up when you need them most.

That’s why I’m so excited about the barn dance this May at Whitehead Farms in Cedar Hill. Ayla and her family are good friends of mine, and if you haven’t met them yet, you’re in for a treat. Ayla is one of those rare people who can turn just about anything into something beautiful—whether it’s handmade soap, jars of jam, or a piece of forgotten junk transformed into a work of art. Some might call her old-school resourceful. I just call her talented.

Their farm is a picture of what rural life is all about—cows for milk and meat, pigs and chickens in the pasture, and a whole lot of hard work done with love. And on this special night, their barn will be filled with music, dancing, and laughter.

We’ve invited Larry Chunn & A Step Ahead Bluegrass Band to bring the tunes. Larry has been playing and dancing for a long, long time—some say he’s danced his way all over creation. I’ve even heard that from time to time, you can catch him dancing at the Grand Ole Opry—maybe even every weekend.

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to square dance. Most people don’t. But we’ve got some folks on hand who will teach you the basics, and I promise—it won’t get too crazy. Just good music, good company, and a whole lot of fun.

So bring a chair, a smile, and a couple of friends. We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm for an evening of music, laughter, and community.

We’ll see you in May—if not before!
